We are happy to announce that applications are now open for the Efficient Scientific Computing (ESC) School 2025, an advanced training opportunity for PhD students, post-docs, and researchers working in scientific computing launched in collaboration with the Next Generation Triggers (NGT).
ESC 2025 will take place from 29 September to 9 October 2025 in the scenic setting of Bertinoro, Italy. The school — also known as Scuola di Bertinoro — is hosted inside a historic fortress nestled in the Romagna hills, offering a focused and inspiring environment for learning and exchange.
Why Attend?
ESC is dedicated to developing efficient, large-scale scientific computing applications, with a strong emphasis on performance, architecture-aware programming, and modern computing tools. It is organized by INFN (Italian Institute for Nuclear Physics) and features lecturers from CERN, INFN, and leading international universities.
Participants will explore:
- The evolution of processor architectures and parallel programming models
- Advanced programming in C++
- Efficient memory usage and floating-point operations
- Programming for heterogeneous environments, including multi-threading, GPUs, and MPI-based cluster computing
The school is intentionally limited to about 25 participants, allowing for a highly interactive format where attendees can benefit from close contact with the lecturers throughout the week.
