Originally from Italy, I am currently a fellow at CERN working on the CMS experiment. I obtained my PhD in Physics from the University of Padova, where my work focused on the design and implementation of the Level-1 Trigger Scouting system for CMS during Run 3, serving as the first demonstrator of this novel data acquisition concept. The idea behind L1 Scouting is to enable access to the full rate of detector data, opening the door to new physics searches and measurements that would not be possible with traditional trigger-based approaches.
I am currently working on the development of the L1 Scouting system for the Phase-2 upgrade of CMS, with a focus on the data acquisition and real-time processing infrastructure. My interests lie at the hardware-software boundary: low-level software development, high-performance networking, data acquisition systems, and compute infrastructure. I enjoy exploring emerging technologies and finding ways to apply them to the challenges of high-energy physics data taking.
A good summary of my first year of work on Phase-2 L1 Scouting can be found here. A full list of relevant publications is available on my ORCID profile.
Fields of interest:
