Elena Vernazza

Elena Vernazza is an experimental particle physicist working on the CMS experiment at the LHC and contributing to the NGT project within Work Package 3.1.1 — Real-time Reconstruction Revolution (R³). Her research focuses on developing innovative reconstruction and analysis techniques to extend the physics and discovery reach of CMS. She currently leads developments towards the novel NGT Scouting paradigm, which combines high-throughput event reconstruction at the High-Level Trigger (HLT) with lightweight data storage to enable physics at unprecedented trigger rates. As CMS HLT Scouting Convener (2026–2028), she coordinates the development of the future scouting programme, driving both its technical implementation and physics strategy towards deployment in the HL-LHC era.

Field of interest:

  • Trigger & Real-Time Reconstruction
  • Machine Learning for Particle Physics
  • Higgs Physics & BSM searches
  • Particle Reconstruction & Flavour Tagging
